I studied French Philology but at heart I knew I had to choose another path in my life. Before I first held a camera I thought I knew horses well. Since the age of fifteen I spent most of my spare time in the saddle or in the stable. I was sure that the biggest happiness in the world could only be found on horseback and nothing could be compared to the feeling which accompanies galloping through meadows, forests or on the beach. The most beautiful melody for me was a horse neighing when waiting for a ration of oats. The most pleasant caress was the touch of soft and silky nostrils searching for a lump of sugar.
Photography changed everything. The hundreds of hours I spent on the pasture observing horses and waiting for the right moment, thousands of images caught on transparencies and a lot of lost frames, which remained only in my head, showed me how little I knew about these beautiful creatures and how much I learned about them each day. I didn’t notice when the hobby become a passion and way of life. The speed of a herd of Thoroughbreds, the beauty and elegance of Arabians, the power and energy of corvine Friesians, the disarming awkwardness of foals trying to take their first steps and, later, their wild gallopades still fascinate me and take my breath away. Every photo session is a great adventure and a big challenge for me, each time is different, surprising and exceptional. When taking photos I wish that people who will look at them will feel the same emotions and delight that accompany me in my everyday work. It is for you to decide if I have achieved this goal. Through this gallery I would like to share with you these transitory and fleeting impressions I try to catch and retain. You are welcome!
